Listening to your Gut Instinct

Welcome, new readers! I’m thrilled to have you join us in this online space. Like each of you, I have a unique story to share. I grew up in a multicultural household with a French Canadian psychologist mom and a German Electrical Engineer dad in Germany. Surprisingly, my first language is French, but at the age of 3, I transitioned to speaking German when I started kindergarten. School posed its challenges for me – partly due to sheer boredom and a preference for movement and creativity over traditional learning methods.

After completing school, I embraced a gap year that led me to explore my mother’s homeland. I spent a season as a snowboard instructor in Apex, BC, followed by a summer working in vineyards and peach orchards. The following winter, I ventured to Sunshine Village in Banff for another season of play. Eventually, my mother convinced me to pursue further education. I completed university with a BA in Political Science and a HBOR in Tourism.

Growing up in a system that didn’t cater to my needs had led me to believe I wasn’t smart. Overcoming this limiting self-perception was a crucial step toward discovering my true passion – understanding and supporting our bodies for optimal health. In the early 2000s, I encountered Rolfing or Structural Integration, a bodywork practice focused on aligning fascias for optimal performance. For me, it not only improved physical alignment but also marked the beginning of a spiritual reawakening.

Intrigued by the profound impact of this work, I enrolled in Rolfing a decade later. During my training, I yearned for even more depth, prompting me to pursue Osteopathy at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Vancouver, BC, a decade after that. For the past five years, I’ve been applying osteopathic principles in my successful practice in Squamish, BC. While I continue to serve clients there regularly, I’ve started building my business here in Port Alberni.

Recognizing that we are more than just a body, the founder of osteopathy emphasized the importance of addressing the body, mind, and spirit for optimal health. Currently, my personal development journey involves reclaiming my spirituality and fostering a deeper connection to Spirit. This internal work unfolds in moments of contemplation, with nature serving as my favorite sanctuary. Walking in the forest, I feel truly held – the plant life there offers countless gifts when we take a moment to listen. It’s my happy place, where I experience profound integration, a deep sense of belonging, and a feeling of being both small and cared for.

I’m here to help you rediscover your flow, ease, and establish a renewed partnership with your beautiful body, always striving to be the best form it can be for your human experience.

Wishing you good health,

Sincerely, Isabel
